This was my 2nd visit at The Thirsty Lion in 2 weeks. The location is central for parties meeting from different parts of the valley. Located in the Tempe Marketplace mall and near the 101 and 202 highways, it’s conveniently located and easily accessible from any part of the valley.
The restaurant is large and has plenty of seating both inside and outside. There are several televisions located throughout the interior of the restaurant and the decor is cozy and very inviting, offering different kinds of seating from bar height tables to regular or booth seating. The exterior seating offers a variety as well between regular and booth seating.
My friend and I decided to take a chance and try something different so we both decided on the Grilled Steak Salad and I’m glad we did. The salad is made with garlic & rosemary marinated grilled steak over mixed greens, Gorgonzola, red onions, cherry tomatoes and red peppers with Chimichurri sauce, crispy onion strings and balsamic vinaigrette. Every bite offered a different taste of all the ingredients which perfectly complimented each other. This salad is simply amazing! I ordered the Baja Fish tacos with Shrimp on my 1st visit and this dish was equally tasty. All of the dishes are reasonably priced and the menu is expansive.
While the overall experience was nice and I had a good time during both visits, I noticed there was a lag time between ordering our food, the food actually being delivered and our waitress’ check ins which were sparse. We found ourselves waiting for her to walk by just to get her attention when we needed something. This could stand some improvement, however it doesn’t affect the overall experience too much — but is definitely worth noting.
